The single was simultaneously released with the album on January 13, 2014 under WM Entertainment.

Billboard reviews the song's composition as "a complex arrangement of '80s-inspired synths mixed with ornamentations of Southern hip-hop, all sang in a melancholic, ballad-style delivery." [1]

Promotion[]

Promotions began in January 2014 with the group performing on various music shows until February 2014 to prepare for their solo concert, The Class.

They won numerous awards with the single, breaking their previous record of one award which was won during their What's Happening? promotions. Notably they won the Triple Crown award on Show Champion on February 25, 2014. [2] B1A4 won a total of eight music show awards from their promotion of Lonely.[3]

After gaining three million views on the Lonely music video, WM Entertainment released the dance practice version of the song.[4][5]

After reaching two million hits on the music video, WM Entertainment uploaded the alternate version of the music video. It features the same set as the prior video.

B1A4 released the second album Who Am I at midnight of January 13 and ranked number one on music sites, such as MelOn, Olleh Music, Bugs, Naver Music and more. [6] Additionally the single reached No. 13 on the K-POP Top 100 Charts, their highest ranking compared to their previous singles. [7]
